Lake Forest

Lake Forest is a newer city in the South Orange County area.

Before it became an incorporated city in 1991, it was known as "El Toro."  The city is well-located, just inland from the I-5 and I-405 freeways, south of Irvine, and just north of Mission Viejo. It takes about 15 minutes to drive to Laguna Beach, 20 minutes to get to the John Wayne Orange County Airport, or the world-famous South Coast Plaza shopping center, and only about 30 minutes to Disneyland.

Lake Forest Location Map

The City of Lake Forest has a great website with descriptions of all their departments, maps to the Lake Forest city parks, agendas of Lake Forest city council meetings, information about building permits and information about all the city sponsored special programs.

You can visit the city of Lake Forest website to read about the history and demographic of Lake Forest in addition to the planned expansion and developments that will be coming in the next few years.

The public schools in Lake Forest are part of the well-respected Saddleback Valley Unified School District. Many are nationally recognized "Blue Ribbon" schools, or California "Distinguished" schools. [Click here for the school district website.]

Most of the homes in Lake Forest were built between the late 1960s and the mid 1980s.  Now that the El Toro Marine Base is closed, and no longer used as an airport, the city is looking into re-zoning an area that was previously restricted as a flight zone, but may now be developed for for new housing. Once those plans have been approved, I will add the information to this website.

The Lake Forest Association, is the original Lake Forest Homeowners Association, and is also known as the "Beach & Tennis Club", includes 1700 homes. The association facilities located next to an 8 acre lake, include a clubhouse, tennis courts, 2 pools, the lagoon, a spa, basketball courts, meeting rooms, and a bar.

The Lake Forest II Master Homeowners Association, sometimes known as the "Sun & Sail Club" or "LF2" includes 3,436 homes.  Their facilities are located next to a 32 acre lake, and include a large clubhouse (where you can have meetings, parties, or weddings) 3 pools, a large spa, a kiddie pool, 9 tennis courts, basketball courts, a well-equiped exercise gym, sand volleyball courts, and acres of grassy picnic area next to the lake. There are 14 different neighborhoods, built by different builders, and they are described on my Neighborhoods of Lake Forest II page

There are several other homeowner associations in the area, but most of them do not have websites. For details about any neighborhood in Lake Forest, please call me or send an email to Vicki@VickiLloyd.com
